1. Market Highlights
Prices for steel plate failed to keep going up in major Chinese domestic markets during the month dragged by the price decline of steel billet as well as the poor sales performance. Though the demand for construction steel improved obviously with the weather getting warmer, that for flat steel remained insufficient and showed no signs of getting strong. Mills tended to hike the production of construction steel and cut that for flat steel, and thus the supply for steel plate was reduced. In the meantime, prices for steel plate in other Asian markets ran on different trends during the month. Considering the overall market inventory runs on a low level, insiders think that the price for steel plate may increase slightly in April.
