1. Market Highlights
In February, downstream demand for manganese flake was weak after the Spring Festival holiday. As workers left to spend the holiday, a majority of manganese flake producers halted production and conducted facility maintenance, resulting in insufficient supply of manganese flake in Chinese market . Some suppliers with stocks in hand slightly raised offers, but scarce deals were closed . In late February, it was said that manganese flake producers would resume production successively, so both upstream suppliers and downstream customers in manganese flake market were pessimistic about market outlook . As a result, transaction prices for manganese flake 99 . 7%min went back to the level of early February.
Prices for February's bids of some steel mills were slightly higher than those before the Spring Festival holiday while those for March's bids were slightly lower than those of the previous purchase. Generally speaking, prices didn't fluctuate violently.
Comprehensively speaking, manganese flake prices were stable in February. Mainstream transaction prices were about RMB13,200-13,400/t (USD1,967-1,997/t), without changes over RMB100/t (USD14.90/t) . The export market saw soft demand and limited new orders.
