Antam targets production at East Halmahera ferronickel smelter in H2

According to the report on March 11, Indonesian state miner PT Aneka Tambang ("Antam" or "the Company") aims to commence operation of its ferronickel smelter in East Halmahera in the second half of this year, with initial production target of around 5,000t of nickel in ferronickel (TNi), disclosed Dimas Wikan Pramudhito, Finance Director of the Company.
According to Pramudhito, the plant will have a production capacity of 13,500 TNi, and Antam's annual ferronickel production capacity will rise to 40,500 TNi when the plant goes into production.
In addition, Antam aims to commence operation of a nickel pig iron blast furnace plant in East Halmahera in Q4 of 2020.
