1. Market Highlights
In February, steel mills tried to lift CRC and HGI coil prices on increased production cost. Traders tried to follow up due to higher purchasing cost. As a consequence, prices of CRC and HGI coil in Chinese leading markets recorded an upward trend after the Chinese New Year. However, the market performance failed to see improvement as the demand from downstream industries recovered slowly. In the international market, China's export prices for CRC and HGI coil kept moving up on better expectation and increased production cost. Those in other Asian countries like Vietnam followed. As the demand from downstream industries will recover further in March, insiders predict that prices of CRC and HGI coil would continue to move up then.
