1. Market Highlights
The domestic section steel market continued to run slowly in China during the month, despite prices increases. Prices for section steel went down obviously in other Asian markets due to the insufficient demand. As construction projects were halted one by one restricted by freezing conditions in North China, the rigid demand for section steel shrank obviously. Besides, being uncertain about the market prospect, most end users only purchased according to urgent needs and were inactive in supplementing inventories. Reporting limited sales volumes, traders showed little confidence in the market prospect and refused to build large inventories. In the meantime, mills were less active in producing dragged by narrowed profits. Insiders foresee a nationwide price decline for section steel in January.
