Tangshan Guofeng Iron & Steel suspends production

Tangshan Guofeng Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. suspended production formally on December 28, 2018.
Established in 1993, Tangshan Guofeng Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. is a large iron & steel company integrating sintering, ironmaking, steelmaking, rolling, and is the largest SPHC hot-rolled coil and plate producer and suppliers in China. It has an annual production capacity of 8.5 million tons of iron, steel and steel products respectively and an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons of cold-rolled products.
Tangshan has been optimizing the layout of iron & steel industry and promoting companies of iron & steel industry and chemical industry to locate nearby ports and iron mines since 2016, so Tangshan Guofeng Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. began to move to coastal region. During February and March of 2016, the company dismantled three shaft furnaces of 450 cubic meters, two rotary furnaces of 50t, one rotary furnace of 40t, and steel rolling and supporting equipment. The annual production capacity of 1.56 million tons of ironmaking, and 2 million tons of steelmaking was closed.
On December 26, 2018, Tangshan authorities issued a notice and required that Tangshan Guofeng Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. should shut down its plant in south region of the city within a definite time, so the company decided to close the plant before December 28, 2018 when it withdrew the annual production capacity of 5.8 million tons of the plant in south region after the annual production capacity of 2 million tons of the plant in north region was closed.
The company will put its newly-built plant in the coastal region into operation in February 2019.
