Baotou Steel re-operates normalizing furnaces for wide-thick steel plates

On October 6, Baotou Steel started re-operation of its normalizing furnaces for steel plates.
In 2009 the company put into operation its thermal-treatment production line for steel plates, and the production line consisted of normalizing, tempering and hardening furnaces. Affected by sales status then, the company shut down its normalizing furnaces in March 2014. With market conditions picking up recently, the company received more orders on steel plates and therefore felt necessary to resume operation of the furnaces.
From January to September 2018, the thermal treatment line processed 174,700t of steel plates, with 30,000t to be processed later. Those plates included high-strength structural steel, rare-earth wear-resistant steel, boiler- or pressure-container-purpose steel, and bridge-purpose steel. Re-operation of the normalizing furnaces therefore laid sound foundation for the company to achieve its 2018 annual production goals.
