Prices of non-grain oriented electrical steel in major markets of China saw a downward trend during this month on weak customer demand, while those of grain oriented electrical steel went up further mainly supported by increase in steel mills' list prices and the low market inventory
. Steel mills such as Baosteel and WISCO announced to lift their list prices of NGO electrical steel for August production . Ansteel and Shougang Steel continued to reduce the production for July and the supply was insufficient . As it was the traditionally low season, customers without urgent need for materials were still holding a wait-and-see attitude and placing orders sparingly . Because of high purchase cost and weak customer demand, traders were reluctant to build large stockpiles and the market inventory kept low . Insiders suppose the market will continue to be quiet in the coming week.
