1. Market Highlights
Benefiting from the environmental protection inspection in major regions especially in Tangshan, Hebei province, prices of wire rod and rebar in Chinese leading markets rebounded by RMB200-300/t (USD29-44/t) this month. In addition, the production restriction due to environmental protection will continue in August and is likely to expand in more regions, which will further be good to steel market. However, the demand from building site was not strong enough amid hot and rainy weather to support improved transaction when prices kept rising up. Taking all factors into consideration, insiders suppose prices of wire rod and rebar will go up and down but they will not show big changes in the coming month.
