1. Market Highlights
Prices for silicon metal decreased on the whole in June with lower electricity charges and higher operating rate during the wet season in South China. The domestic market saw continuously decreasing prices and limited transactions in June with no signs of recovery as downstream buyers had weaker demand and placed fewer orders due to environmental inspection policies and international trade dispute. Following decreasing prices in the domestic market, export prices for silicon metal moved down accordingly and the export market was quiet on the whole as overseas buyers mainly waited on the sidelines and made purchases in small volume.
