1. Market Highlights
After moving up by RMB300-400/t (USD47-63/t) in April, prices of wire rod and rebar in Chinese leading markets decreased slightly by less than RMB100/t (USD16/t) in May. On less optimism for the market outlook, traders were reluctant to build stocks as the traditional low season for construction steel consumption was coming. Steel mills' stocks began to show some signs of moving up. However, they kept actively producing wire rod and rebar on relatively high profit. Insiders suppose prices of wire rod and rebar will continue to fall slightly in the coming month.
