1. Market Highlights
Influenced by high stocks and slow demand release from building sites, prices of wire rod and rebar continued to fall in March with a total markdown of RMB400-500/t (USD64-80/t). As the heating season came to the end, few steel mills will be restricted production. It is likely that the supply for rebar and wire rod will continue to rise but it will take a long time for markets to consume high stocks. Anyhow, prices have dropped a lot and steel mills showed strong intention to hold prices firm. Insiders suppose prices of wire rod and rebar will come down in the coming month but the markdown is limited.
