1. Indium Industry Overview
1.1. Properties of indium metal
As a minor, soft, ductile and silvery-white metal with bright luster and with a chemical symbol of In, indium has an atomic number of 49 and belongs to the IIIA group in the periodic table of the elements. It has an atomic weight of 114 . 81, and its melting and boiling point is 429 . 7485 K (156 . 5985 °C, 313 . 8773 °F) and 2345 K (2072 °C, 3762 °F) respectively . Indium has a density of 7.31 g/cm3 and is not oxidized by air at room temperature . With a slight radioactivity, indium may damage the heart, kidneys and liver, and therefore direct physical contact with the metal should be avoided.
