1. Market Highlights
Influenced by shrank demand from building sites in January, prices of wire rod and rebar recorded a downward trend this month. Especially in South China, prices dropped sharply by about RMB800/t (USD127/t), dragged by negative impact of low-cost materials from North and Northeast China. Participants will generally take a holiday during February 15-21 for the Chinese New Year and the market will perform inactively before and after the holiday. What are worse, most steel mills will produce regularly during the holiday, causing stock increase in late February. Insiders suppose prices of wire rod and rebar will decrease slightly in the coming month.
