Generally speaking, the steel plate market in the “Golden September” this year failed to perform as actively as it did in past years due to frequent prices changes as well as weakening downstream demand. Facing environmental protection pressures, lots of downstream projects and machinery plants were forced to halt progress during the month, and the rigid demand shrank obviously. Besides, sharp and frequent prices changes heightened downstream customers’ wait-and-see attitudes and they were cautious about placing orders, for fear of potential risks. Reporting unsatisfactory sales performance, traders were inactive in supplementing inventories. Considering both the supply and the demand will be reduced further in October, insiders do not think the steel plate price will change obviously by then.
