Prices of both non-grain oriented electrical steel and grain oriented electrical steel in major markets of China witnessed an upward trend during this month mainly supported by the low market inventory and increase in steel mills’ list prices. Domestic steel mills such as Baosteel and WISCO further raised their list prices for September production obviously. However, as demand from downstream customers remained weak amid the traditionally low season, the market sales performance continued to be bad. Traders refused to build large stockpiles to avoid risks and the market inventory kept low. Insiders think the market will remain quiet in the coming month.
