Bauxite production to be suspended in Shanxi during the nineteenth NPC and National Games

The Shanxi Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau has released documents recently to production companies, requiring those who without three certificates to suspend production for rectification from August 14th to September 14th and all of them with or without three certificates to suspend production during the nineteenth NPC and National Sports.
By the end of June 2017, Shanxi had asked 2,485 companies to conduct rectification and punished 856 companies with a total fine of RMB71.797 million.
Shanxi Province is not only the main coal production region, but also the main production area of bauxite resources. This pack of severe environmental protection policies will place a significant impact on coal, refractory material, electrolytic aluminum and other industries, especially bauxite, the raw material for the refractory industry.
According to the statistics, Shanxi has an annual capacity of 20 million tons of alumina, accounting for 27.5% of the total in China. Asian metal was informed that the majority of alumina plants in Shanxi only hold a small amount of stocks which can last for less than one month and thus some of them may choose to cut production if the policies actually carry out.
