During May, as environmental inspections in China became stricter, operating rates of Chinese tungsten raw material producers continued to hover at a low level
. Accordingly supply in the spot market was tight and prices continued to move up; but on the other hand, restrained by limited end demand, consumers were cautious in their purchasing and there were limited transactions concluded . The market therefore fell into a deadlock. In May, prices for tungsten concentrate rose by about RMB2,000/t (USD293/t) from April, APT up by about RMB4,000/t (USD587/t), and tungsten powder up by about RMB5/kg (USD0.73/kg).
