GCL-Poly Energy to invest RMB5.7 billion for building polysilicon production base in Xinjiang

GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited (“the company”) recently announced that it will invest RMB5.682 billion for building polysilicon production base with capacity of 60,000tpy in Xinjiang. The company expects to see an annual polysilicon capacity of more than 115,000t by 2020.
It is reported that the company’s polysilicon project (“the project”) has an annual capacity of 60,000t, including 40,000t of newly built capacity, with the rest 20,000t being transferred from production base in Xuzhou. The project will be implemented in three phrases, with phrase I construction of 200,000t being finished before Q2 2018 and phrase II construction of 200,000t being completed before late 2018. Transfer of the rest 200,000t of capacity will be conducted before late 2020 in accordance with the market situation. According to the company’s announcement, lower electricity prices and energy costs in Xinjiang will help to reduce its production costs for polysilicon and strengthen competitiveness.
