World grade silicon based new material industrial base to be created in Xinjiang

On April 7, East Hope Non-ferrous Metal Co., Ltd., Gold Concord Holding Limited and Beijing Lirr High-Temperature Material Co., Ltd. started construction about silicon-based new material base in Zhundong Economy and Technology Development Zone of Xinjiang. After the construction is finished, the annual capacity of polycrystalline silicon in the development zone will reach 280,000t, which will lay a solid foundation for Xinjiang to create the world grade silicon-based new material industrial base.
According to Zhou Youren, the director general of Economic Development Bureau in Zhundong Economy and Technology Development Zone of Xinjiang, as the largest integrated coalfield discovered in China so far now, the development zone owns 390 billion tons of evaluated coal reserves, which belong to high-quality coals used in chemical engineering area and have characters of low-sulfur, low-phosphorus, low-ash and high oil with average caloric of 6,784 kilocalories. Zhundong will depend on its advantages in resources and electricity to form an industrial cluster in coal, coal power, coal chemicals, new material and new energy areas and own international pricing right in electrolytic aluminum, industry silicon, high-purity silicon, polycrystalline silicon, monocrystalline silicon, photovoltaic module, new energy and other industries to speed up the significant development.
Liu Yongxing, the chairman of East Hope Group Co., Ltd., noted that their new energy industry will invest RMB24 billion to construct the polycrystalline silicon project with an annual capacity of 120,000t.
Jiang Wenwu, the chairman of Xinjiang Gold Concord New Energy Material Technology Co., Ltd., disclosed that they grasp the most advanced production technology of photovoltaic material and will invest RMB30 billion to successively construct the polycrystalline silicon project with an annual capacity of 100,000t, the ultra pure silicon project with an annual capacity of 200,000t, the ultra pure graphite project with an annual capacity of 3,000t and their supporting projects and engineering.
Niu Jun, the chairman of Beijing Lirr High-temperature Material Co., Ltd., said that they will invest RMB28 billion to construct the project of polycrystalline silicon with an annual capacity of 60,000t and others.
It is reported that the verified reserves for quartzite and vein quartz using in the production of industry silicon are 16.178 million tons in Xinjiang, accounting for 14.7% of the total reserves in China. In particular, reserves for vein quartz which can be used in the production of organosilicone and polycrystalline silicon are 6.053 million tons in Xinjiang, accounting for 9.9% of the total among China. That is to say, Xinjiang has resource advantages to develop industry silicon and silicon based deep processing products.
