Manganese Alloys and Ore Market Report in February 2017

In February, silicomanganese prices continued to decrease and mainstream prices for silicomanganese 65/17 decreased to RMB5,100-5,300/t (USD738-767/t) ex works VAT included by cash in late February. Transaction prices were even lower than RMB5,000/t (USD724/t) in Ningxia. Mainstream prices for silicomanganese 60/14 decreased by RMB700/t (USD101/t) to RMB4,800-5,000/t (USD695-724/t) ex works VAT excluded by cash. Producers started to keep prices firm due to higher production cost and producers in South China had raised offers to RMB5,400/t (USD782/t) ex works VAT included by cash, but end demand was weak, which can’t support the rise of prices, so it’s expected that market prices will remain stable in short time.
