The overall silicon metal market was dull in December with prices decreasing continually. The prices increased sharply in November as raw materials’ prices increased sharply and many buyers built stocks. Further into December, the demand for silicon metal weakened and trading was thin. Traders were active in selling stocks and the prices dropped. The operating rate of silicon metal smelters in Yunnan decreased sharply in the end of December and smelters held quotations stable.
