AM Statistics: Chinese December secondary aluminum alloys output down by 8.7% MOM

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Jan 17 - According to Asian Metal Database, China produced around 276,000t of secondary aluminum alloys in December 2016, down by 8.7% MOM. The total output in 2016 climbed up by 1.9% YOY to around 3.34 million tonnes.

Usually, Chinese producers need to increase production for stocks building before the Spring Festival, but they were forced to cut or suspend production last December due to strict environmental protection inspection. In the second half of this month, most secondary aluminum alloy plants will suspend production for the Spring Festival holiday, so the output may continue to decrease a bit this month.
Last December, most producers in major regions cut production. The output in Guangdong slid down by 13.2% MOM to around 72,000t, followed by Jiangsu and Chongqing with volume at around 35,000t and 34,000t respectively, down by 2.8% and 6.4% MOM.

According to Asian Metal, 29 secondary aluminum alloy producers cut production last December. The average operating rate for Chinese running secondary aluminum alloy plants was around 57.32% last December, down from 61.98% in the previous month.
