During November, prices for Chinese ferrosilicon rose slightly at first, then stabilized in the latter period of the month and finally began to edge down after slight fluctuations. With outputs increasing in early November, the tight supply in the Chinese ferrosilicon market was completely eased; later, as the steel market gradually stabilized and downstream demand became weak, prices for Chinese ferrosilicon edged down. By the end of November, prices for Chinese ferrosilicon 72%min and 75%min had risen by RMB100/t (USD14.5/t) and RMB200/t (USD29.0/t) respectively from early in the month.
Meanwhile, in the sluggish export market for Chinese ferrosilicon, prices rose substantially – affected by prices in the domestic market which soared in October – and then remained at high levels throughout the month, although export transactions became more difficult.
