In November, in terms of domestic market, Chinese zircon sand market saw increasing sales and prices due to RMB depreciation and rising logistic costs. Zirconium chemicals witnessed increased prices driven by incremental production costs. Zirconium silicate saw poorer demand in ceramic industry nationwide but stable prices limited by production costs. Fused zirconia produced tried to mark up prices, but consumers still failed to accept. Zirconium sponge prices hovered in the low levels.
As for overseas zircon sand market, Australian, South African and Indonesian zircon sand suppliers, such as Iluka, Tronox and RBM held prices unchanged in November 2016. South African zircon sand market saw limited supply, while Indonesian zircon sand one witnessed slack deals. RBM and Base Resources would move up zircon sand prices in Q1 2017.
