Large crystalline fused magnesite sells well

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 17 Jun 05 – Due to power shortages and strong market demand, large crystalline fused magnesite sales are thriving.
“Our large crystalline fused magnesite sales are very prosperous,” an official from a Xiuyan county Liaoning-based smelter told Asian Metal. “We usually receive payment first and then arrange the shipment for the domestic market.”
The source quoted large crystalline fused magnesite for 97%min grade at RMB2,200/t ex works, and 98%min grade at RMB3,150/t. “Prices have remained stable since April,” added the source.
The smelter produced 15,000t of large crystalline fused magnesite last year.
Another Xiuyan-based smelter confirmed the prosperous market. “Recently, our production quantities were reduced due to power shortage,” a spokesperson from the smelter told Asian Metal, “so our large crystalline fused magnesite supply became very tight. We’re currently supplying to some old customers.”
According to the source, the concluded price for 98.5%min is RMB4,600/t ex works.
The source revealed that the main raw material for large crystalline fused magnesite is light burned magnesite. “We purchase 0-5mm light burned magnesite segment sands for 95%min at RMB610/t delivered to buyer’s destination. The price keeps increasing.”
