The performance of the HRC market in China remained unsatisfactory during the month, in line with the nationwide downward price trend – even though it was “Golden September”. Most participants showed no confidence in the market outlook, in light of decreasing raw material prices. In the meantime, the frequent price fluctuations in the futures market also meant market participants’ cautious attitude concerning the market prospects was considerably heightened. Lacking any confidence in the market outlook, traders refused to build large stockpiles and simply supplemented inventories according to urgent needs. Insiders do not think the HRC price will rebound in the near future.
