Prices of wire rod and rebar generally recorded a downward trend in China in September, influenced by high stocks and bad market sales performance. Even though prices showed a temporarily rise in late September due to increased production cost and transportation cost, participants showed little optimism for a better market outlook in October as the demand from building sites is likely to shrink coupled with the government’s policies for tightened control on property market. Insiders predict that prices for wire rod and rebar are likely to come down in the coming month.
