In August, in terms of domestic market, Chinese zircon sand suppliers held price unchanged without support from downstream demand. Zirconium chemicals saw slightly increasing prices with contracted supply and rising upstream prices. Zirconium silicate witnessed greatly shrinking demand in ceramic industry due to environmental protection inspection but stable prices limited by production costs. Fused zirconia prices hovered in the low levels. Zirconium sponge suppliers reduced prices to destock and ease cash pressure.
In overseas zircon market, Australian zircon suppliers insisted on the increased prices and consumers with rigid demand had to accept the increase range of no more than USD60/t, but with minimum purchasing volume. South African zircon suppliers still saw tight supply in Chinese market, only maintaining regular consumers. Indonesian zircon suppliers reduced supply and moved up prices marginally.
