Prices of wire rod and rebar recorded an upward trend in the first half of this month and were generally on a downward trend in the latter half even though prices showed some signs of rebounding in the last week of the month. Prices were mainly pulled up by the rise in the futures market and recorded a mark-up of RMB150-200/t (USD23-30/t) in the month. However, the demand from construction projects remained weak in the traditional low season. Insiders predict that prices for wire rod and rebar are likely to come down in the coming month.
