Prices of wire rod and rebar continued on the downward trend in early June influenced by the weakened demand from downstream consumers. Even though they increased slightly in late June after prices of steel billet kept rising for about RMB200t (USD30/t), the market performance was bad. Some big steel mills such as Shagang Steel and Yonggang Steel planned to increase delivery quantities to local market in July. Insiders predict that prices for wire rod and rebar are likely to come down in the coming month.
