BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 Jun 16 - The EGI coil price in Chinese leading markets has been stable for two weeks. In addition, the demand from downstream consumers failed to show any signs of becoming strong in the traditional low season. The current price of SECC-N5 1.0mm*1,250mm*C (with anti-finger print treatment) in Shanghai is RMB5,070/t (USD772/t) VAT included at the moment. Insiders predict that it is likely for the price to come down slightly in the near future.
A trader in Shanghai stated that the price of SECC-N5 1.0mm*1,250mm*C (with anti-finger print treatment) from Baosteel is RMB5,070/t (USD772/t) VAT included, similar to that of last trading day. According to the source, the price reached RMB5,120/t (USD779/t) on 17 May and fell by about RMB50/t (USD8/t) in late May. “It has been stable in recent two weeks and the market ran steadily during that time,” said the source.
The company is holding an inventory of 900 tons in hand at present, a little higher than that of 700 tons in past two months. Its sales volume reached 650 tons in May. The source revealed that prices of other flat steels such as CRC and HGI coil kept falling in May and the steel market performed inactively during that time. What’s worse, it will be the traditional low season for EGI coil consumption in coming two months. The source does not think the price of EGI coil has chances to go up in the near future.
A trader in Guangzhou, Guangdong province said the price of SECC-AFP 1.0mm*1,250mm*C (with anti-finger print treatment) from Doowon Steel (DWS) is RMB4,850/t (USD738/t) VAT included, equivalent to that of last trading day. The source revealed that prices totally went down by about RMB300/t (USD46/t) in May, influenced by raw materials prices decrease. In addition, the price has been stable in recent days in June.
“Most customers are purchasing materials according to urgent need when prices are on the downward trend,” said the source, adding that customers only place an order less than 20 tons at a time. “I have never seen orders with a volume of higher than 50 tons in recent two months,” he said. The company has an inventory of 500 tons at present, lower than that of 700-800 tons in April. The source revealed that he reduced stock level in early May, being short of confidence in the coming market. His sales volume was about 450 tons in May.
