The Chinese vanadium market witnessed jump prices sharply in April. Chinese vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min producers kept raising prices and held back selling the material. Therefore, it was difficult for downstream consumers to buy the goods and ferrovanadium and vanadium nitride prices were on the rise. Some steel mills were forced to accept the prices increase for normal use. However, market demand from steel mills showed no signed of rebounding. The increased prices lacked firm support. By the end of April, ferrovanadium 50%min prices had increased by 18.36%, while those for vanadium nitride had climbed by 27.14%. As for the vanadium pentoxide flake 98% market, the prices showed upward tendencies. By the end of month, the prices had gone up by RMB10,000/t (USD0.7/lb).
