Sliding prices in Chinese vanadium nitride market

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 8 Dec 15 - Sources reported that Chinese vanadium nitride prices decrease to RMB55,000-58,000/t (USD11.1-11.8/kg V) D/A delivered, down by RMB4,000/t (USD0.8/kg V) from two weeks ago. As the downstream market remains dim and steel mills reduce production, the demand for vanadium nitride decreases. Taking account of the abundant supply, it’s predicted that the prices will remain at low prices level in the coming one week.
A producer in Shanxi stated that Chinese vanadium nitride market sees slow buying activities and sliding prices. Currently, their mainstream prices are around RMB55,000/t (USD11.1/kg V) D/A delivered, down by RMB3,000/t (USD0.6/kg V) from ten days ago. “It’s hard for us to achieve deals as the demand becomes weaker and the supply is still excessive, so we have to lower prices to compete for deals,” said the source. They still have about one truck of the material undelivered at RMB56,000/t (USD11.3/kg V) D/A delivered signed in late last week.
With an annual production capacity of 3,000t, they produced about 200t last month, down by 30t from that of October. They plan to produce about 200t in December, having about 200t of stocks at hand now.
A consumer in Anhui reported that Chinese vanadium nitride prices show downward tendencies. Last week, they purchased about 30t at RMB56,500/t (USD11.5/kg V) D/A delivered, with a decrease of RMB6,000/t (USD1.2/kg V) from last purchase in mid-November. “The prices keep falling, so we just buy the material for immediate use,” said the source. He thinks the market supply is still excessive and the prices show no signs of rebounding in the coming one week.
With regular monthly consumption volume of 30t, they used about 20t in November, down by 10t from that of October, having about 10t of stocks at hand at present.
