Steel mills’ operating ratio increased slightly this month and iron ore demands went up accordingly
. Better demands and lower port inventory led to higher iron ore prices . However, prices did not go up much . Under the dim steel market, iron ore prices kept fluctuating in the second half of the month. Chinese-origin iron ore prices were stable in general and some regions witnessed a RMB10-20/t increase under the influence of bullish imported iron ore market . Iron ore stocks at ports do not drop in high speed now and the steel market is still weak . Considering these, iron ore prices are expected to go up in the first half of June and then to drop in the second half.
