AM Statistics: Copper rod stocks in Chinese main plants down by 16.1% MOM in late February

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 6 Mar 15 - The statistics from Asian Metal about copper rod stocks in 24 plants with the total annual capacity of 6.61 million tons showed that copper rod stocks were 40,600t in late February, down by 16.1% from 48,400t in late January.
The following table is about the copper rod stocks in Chinese main provinces.
In mid-February, most electric wire and cable plants started to halt production for the Spring Festival holiday, and demand for copper rod shrank much. Meanwhile, copper rod producers also suspended production, and some of them took the opportunity to make maintenance. Therefore, the stocks in main copper rod plants declined. As Jiangsu Jiangrun Copper, the largest copper rod producer in China, reduced production for annual repair, its outputs almost declined by a half in February, and stocks fell sharply. In the event, the stocks in Jiangsu Province decreased significantly by over 30% month-on-month.
In March, most producers in China will increase copper rod production. However, the consumption grows slowly. Therefore, participants believe that copper rod stocks in China are likely to rise in late March.
