The Chinese silicon metal market remained sluggish in the first half of January with prices decreasing further. The overall prices turned stable in late January and the prices for 5-5-3 picked up slightly in the end of January. Some smelters held back from selling materials. The prices for higher grade silicon metal were generally stable in January. Chinese silicon metal export prices decreased in the first half of January following the domestic price decrease and the prices kept stable in late January. Chinese domestic and export markets saw more deals in late January.
