LONDON (Asian Metal) 3 Feb 15 - The dead burned magnesia market in Europe saw very little change in way of price movements in January, with sources noting low levels of activity. As the market in much of Europe was slow to return from the Christmas and the New Year holidays, the wider EMEA market reported that smaller improvements on the demand side reported in December hadn’t materialised into 2015. Sources confirmed their offering price for dead burned magnesia 90%min at EUR280-300/t FOB Southern Europe, whilst offering 95%min material at EUR310-320/t FOB Southern Europe. Traders in the European market noted that their activity was still poor, low and unchanged as far as prices were considered, and reported dead burned magnesia 90%min available at EUR310-330/t DDP and 95%min material available at EUR340-360/t DDP . Sources active in the market suggested that the general uptick in the EMEA markets seen when the Chinese market shuts down for the Spring Festival could be subdued this year, noting poor activity levels from downstream consumers in the refractory industry.
