Against the tradition of “Golden September” during which steel mills are supposed to increase purchase volumes because of better operation rate in the construction field, many steel mills purchased no extra material in September on the basis of August, thus, the general demand for manganese alloys didn’t increase
. As it was still the wet season, Southern provinces kept operating at around 25% of the capacity; while in the North, the operation rate was around 60%, with new furnaces been put into production . As a result, the market supply was abundant in September . Consequently, both ferromanganese and silicomanganese markets saw price declining.
