In August, Chinese selenium 99.9% market remained sluggish with little fluctuation in prices and trading volumes as downstream demand from ceramics and glass industries still showed no increase. At the beginning of this month, selenium 99.9% prices fell by RMB5/kg (USD0.8/kg) to RMB375-405/kg (USD60.8-65.6/kg) and gave to the cost of the material and weak demand, which had been stable at this level for the rest of August. In addition, Chinese selenium dioxide prices also showed a flat trend throughout the August, which were RMB250-260/kg (USD40.5-42.1/kg) as the purchase from manganese plants remained small but stable.
Meanwhile, Chinese tellurium 99.99% market had slipped to the bottom so far this year. In August, most of the deals were concluded via long-term contracts and sporadic deals were only made with purchasing from hand to month in small volume. Due to a reduction of output in some refrigeration plants, the market saw weaker demand, which led to the price of tellurium 99.99% declining by RMB40/kg (USD3.2/kg) to RMB750-780(USD121.5-126.4/kg).
