Shanxi developed primary aluminum industry by means of advantages in coal resources, while capacity expansion was hindered without obvious advantages in the development due to the lack of a completed and integrated coal-power-aluminum pattern. Capacity of primary aluminum in Shanxi fell during the past two years without chances to expand due to declining prices of aluminum. In 2013, output of the material stabilized in this province, while proportion in domestic output declined.
