Some Chinese silicon metal suppliers lowered their offers to promote sales for cash back before the Spring Festival holiday (January 31st to February 6th) and domestic silicon metal prices decreased significantly. After the holiday, the operating rates of silicon metal smelters saw no increase and the overall inventory for silicon metal on the spot market was not large. Silicon metal smelters stood firm on their offers and some even raised quotes slightly. The Chinese silicon metal export market saw more orders in February, some for prompt delivery and others for Q2 delivery.
