The operating rate of Chinese manganese flake went down further by 5% to 35% in December 2013, as more producers ceased production in South China while those delay expansion in North China. According to insiders, demand from Chinese domestic steel mills kept stable month on month. Therefore, mainstream prices of Chinese manganese flake increased by RMB250/t (USD41/t) to RMB12,800-13,100/t (USD2,117-2,167/t) in the month.
