AM Statistics: China zinc smelters' operating rate up to 77.56% in November

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 4 Dec 13 - According to the statistical of China’s 36 major zinc smelters each with the annual capacity of above 40,000t by Asian Metal, the average operating rate of the sample smelters was 77.56% in November, 2013, up from 76.13% in October. The total capacity of the sample smelters is 5,060,000tpy.
The operating rates of most Chinese zinc smelters kept stable in November. Most producers had completed the maintenance and in the third quarter, and they resumed the normal production in the fourth quarter. Therefore, the operating rates keep at a high level now. Some large-sized smelters increased production slightly in the fourth quarter, such as Yunnan Xiangyun Feilong Non-ferrous Metals Co., Ltd. However, the zinc smelter with the capacity of 180,000tpy of Gansu Baiyin Group has not resumed production.
Asian Metal predicts that the operating rates of zinc smelters may continue to increase slightly or keep at the high level in December.
