Although September was in the period of peak season for lithium battery, oil grease, etc. industries, lithium salts prices remained on the downward tendency affected by adequate supply. On one hand, China imported large quantity of lithium carbonate: China imported 9,859t of lithium carbonate from January to August 2013 in total, rising by close to 18% YOY. On the other hand, producers such as Galaxy Lithium, Qinghai Lithium and Qinghai Lanke, etc. expanded output, leading to fierce competition among manufacturers. Some producers cut prices to complete their sales target and some other producers had to lower their price correspondently in order to maintain market share.
