As shown in the figure, domestic total consumption of steel scrap continues to rise by three times from 2000 to the end of 2011, hitting the highest level of 91 million tons
. Total consumption of steel scrap reduces significantly by 7 million tons in 2012 compared with that of 2011 . The first three quarter has passed in 2013, according to the market survey, domestic steel companies reduce consumption of steel scrap to control the cost expenditure as much as possible due to cost pressure of iron making, and in the first three quarters, domestic steel scrap market continues to be flat with price decline .
