In general, lithium salts prices continued to decline in August
. During this month, downstream industries were in the off season and most consumers cut their output, so the stock pressure of producers increased . Those large-sized producers, who tried to stabilize prices previously had to reduce prices to maintain market share. In the first half of 2013, lithium hydroxide market maintained firm and some producers reported that the average selling price of lithium hydroxide was RMB45/kg (USD7.31/kg) in H1 . However, demand shrank in August and inventory pressure for manufacturers increased, which resulted in low sentiment and lower prices . At the same time, since lithium chloride price kept firm, and there are only several lithium metal producers, lithium metal prices were steady in August.
