Steel billet price in domestic market struggles with appreciation this month and the price appreciation amounts to RMB100-200/t. Reasons for steel billet price increase are as follows:
Firstly, raw material price increase. Imported ore price increased significantly in July. Rates of Indian iron ore fines 64.5%min and Platts Index iron ore 62%min in overseas market have increased by USD17.25/t and USD14.75/t respectively than those of late last month. As a consequence, ore prices in domestic market are promoted to increase. In addition, coke price increased by RMB20-30/t. Higher steel billet costs promote the price appreciation in the market.
