High power cost accelerates product cut in Chinese aluminum smelting

Most of aluminum smelters are still in great losses due to high power cost and low aluminum ingot price even though raw material cost decreased a bit. Some smelters with matching power plant had losses cut to some extent, while the others still need to face the tough condition. Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China issues Aluminum Industry Standards recently, suggesting reform in the industry. The high power charge for smelting may accelerate the reform.
