The news that China would take storage purchase measure in antimony market and producers stopped production to support the market spread around in May and major company in antimony industry purchased thousands of antimony ingot and trioxide in the spot market. However, the increasing stock pressure made many suppliers pessimistic about the future market. The price of antimony ingot 99.65%min stayed at RMB65,000-67,000/t (USD10,569-10,894/t) ex works and RMB56,000-58,000/t (USD9,106-9,431/t) VAT excluded and decreased by RMB500/t (USD81/t) late the month.
The demand for antimony trioxide is weak and producers have increasing stock pressure, so the price for antimony trioxide 99.5%min went down step by step. In the first week, the price decreased by RMB500/t (USD81/t) to RMB57,000-59,000/t (USD9,268-9,593/t) ex works. As China Minmetals Non-ferrous Metals Co. Ltd. purchased 1,000t of antimony trioxide from its subsidiary Hsikwangshan Twinkling Star Co., Ltd. and would carry out storage purchase for antimony ingot, the price of antimony trioxide kept stable for two weeks and then reduced by RMB1,000/t (USD162/t) to RMB56,500-58,500/t (USD9,187-9,512/t) ex works.
